Graphics Card Selection: Mental Breakdown

Okay guys,
I have been debating with myself whether to get the 1080 Ti or the 2080. After much decision-making, I have decided to go with a 1080 Ti.
After even more debating with myself, I decided to go with an Aorus Xtreme (Normal, not waterblock or liquid cooled). But this is where the problem all starts.
Firstly, I found out that the waterblock from EK for the Aorus Xtreme had reached end of life. I was not happy as I was planning to liquid cool my system later on.
Secondly, when I came back from school a few days ago, I was horrified to discover that the prices for the Aorus Xtreme had suddenly jumped to about SGD200 on Newegg more than competing models. This was where I started rethinking my decisions.
This was where all my plans sort of had a complete breakdown. If I got a 1080 Ti, it would give me more performance, but I would run the risk of the waterblocks reaching end of life. On the other hand, the 2080 would give me less performance, but it might give me some ray tracing capability (not like anyone's gonna notice the effect) and the waterblocks will definitely be around for longer.
So here's the main debate: 1080 Ti or 2080, and what brand and model? Also, I'm looking for something not too pricey but still has some hella overclocking potential.
Thanks guys. You're awesome.

How long are you expecting to keep the card? More the point when are you expecting to water cool it if your not going to so straightaway.

If your plan is to water cool and overclock to extend the life once the inevitable next-gen comes along, then I think the 2080 is the way to go.
If your plan is to replace it [water cooled and overclocked regardless] when the inevitable next-gen comes along, then the 1080ti might be the way to go.

If the price of the two cards is the same then I think the 2080 makes sense. Getting a 1080ti makes sense if the price difference makes it sense.

I heard the 1080 Ti offers more performance for less price. By the way I live in Singapore and right now the price for the Aorus Extreme is over 1.4k SGD

I think from the benchmarks and reports I've seen with today's game the 1080ti and 2080 are matched. Overclocking including manufacturers overclocking can swing that one way or another. They are essentially matched. As the price of the 2080 is generally higher the consensus seems to be take the 1080ti and keep the cash in the bank.

If the price is the same then the 2080 would make sense. Same performance and whatever ray tracing brings. If the 2080 is way more then the 1080ti makes sense.
