I recently rebuilt a sytem and think I fried the Video Card  . The question is in the title, my PC starts just fine with onboard video but as soon as I install the Graphics card and try to start, I push the power button and the fans wiggle a little bit then nothing, hit the power button again and nothing. I have to turn the switch off on the PSU, then hit the power button again and nothing.

I put my card from my other PC in and it works great.

I tried the suspect card again scalping the power plugs from the other pc suspecting PSU might not be big enough, to no avail.

If the card is damaged is there anything I can do other than buy a new one?

Thanks in advance.

I had the two PC's running side by side with the plugs coming the other PSU thats a 1000w. This process worked well trying the xfx 6970 hd in the pc as the avevia pos didn't have enough plugs. I used the other plugs to rule out psu issues.

Parts Sorry:
MoBo- ASRock 960GM/U3S3
CPU- AMD FX-6300 @4.5 GHz
Heatsink- Rosewill RCX-ZAIO
GPU- EVGA gtx 550ti it a refurb this is why this doesn't surprise me, although its worked for well over a year already.
PSU-APEVIA ATX-TL450W

Yes was meticulous about installing MoBo, as I said it works perfectly with the XFX Radeon 6970 HD in there, that has the same interface double slot PCIE. Also works perfectly with no card in there.

Try it with the 1kW PSU "straight up" just to rule out a power issue.

I tried this shortly after trying the PSU plugs from the 1000w for the same reasons.
