Graphics card stopped working! I have no idea what to do!

I recently reset my computer to its factory settings to provide more space and speed to it. I use it primarily for games. So after the reset, I installed my game (Sims 3) and tried playing it. But a box with a message appeared saying: "Device0 cannot run this title. No supported graphics card detected. Please check your hardware. This has never never happened and before the reset, i could play the game anytime with no hassle. So why is it not allowing me now? Please help. I have a Windows Vista. (A side note, its not letting me play anything else either.)

Probably the driver of your graphic card is missing or not up-to-date. Could u tell me whether u'r using IGP or discrete graphic card?

Sorry, im not sure, the computer was purchased for me, so i know very little about what is in it. Is there a way i could check?

Go into BIOS and check if PCIE is enabled in display config.

Right click "Computer" on your desktop or choose "system" in control panel to call out "System Properties" . Choose "device manager" on the left. Select "Display Adapter(s)" and tell me what u see.

Windows Update's driver sucks (no offense), I would never use such drivers even if it is a 82815 IGP i down the driver from intel.com.

Just to determine the graphic card so I could get the driver from the official site (such as Intel, Nvidia, AMD)

Your response about windows update was 100% easy, its the other one i had trouble with. So sorry for spending more time swimming laps then reading books on computers.

regardless of your personal views on what you can get from Windows Update I bet if that was the problem his headache would be over.

and it may not just be the graphics driver. Lots of people know nothing about the benefits of netframework and other things that might show up.
