Graphics Card Suggestion for new (older) system

Hello Community, new user here.
I have a new-to-me system with the following stats:
- ATX form factor w/CoolerMaster 650W (80+) power supply
- Intel D975XBX motherboard (ATI x-fire)
- Intel Core2Duo E6700 @2.66 (EM64T)
- Patriot PC2-5300 DDR2 (3x1GB)
- GeForce 8400GS DDR2 256MB video
- Win XP Pro (32bit) SP3

I Need/Use:
- 1xHDMI (42" LG LCD TV)
- 1xDVI (23" Dell Monitor)
- Price point sub-$100 preferred

I have always used ATI and this motherboardboard apparently requires it for cross-fire setup. I doubt I will go that route as the system is mostly for video playback but I am not opposed to it if the price is not too high. It would be nice to be able to play some of the older games (more than 2yrs) however.

650 Ti Boost would work nice or if you prefer ati 7850 or 7870 woul suffice.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 would be great for this build.

The GeForce GTX 650 is a good looking choice. It seems like the best bang-for-the-buck currently in that price range.

One misgiving I have about this choice (NVIDIA in general?) is the multi-screen options.

I am currently using a GeForce 8400 GS DDR2 256MB (NVIDIA Control Panel Ver. 7.1.740.0) in the above system and there does not seem to be an option that allows me to positionally adjust the monitors in a vertical arrangement with the same level of control that AMD gives me. With the AMD (PowerColor x1950 PRO AGP DDR3 256MB in P4 (Northwood) 3.2Ghz) I can play a full screen video on the 42" LG TV (through VGA) while I am using the 23" monitor (DVI) also at full screen. There is no overlap of screens and no interruption for either of the processes.

Q= Is there an AMD card that is going to give me something close to the NVIDIA at the same price point <or> is there a software solution I am not aware of with the NVIDIA that solves my dilemma?

Currently debating between HD 7770
