Graphics card & system help

So basically, i'm building a gaming pc. So far, everything is built as is connected properly. But when I turn on the PC (the display ports are in the graphics card, not the motherboard) it just says "No Signal Detected", but if I go and unplug the HDMI cable I'm using. The monitor would go to jet black, rather than a very dark grey. Like the colour you get when you've just turned on your tv. I have no idea what's wrong, I've doubled checked that everything is in correctly, the SSHD I'm using already has Windows 7 on it and that is setup correctly too.

Please for the love of jesus. What the hell is happening with my system?

Try booting by connecting the monitor to the mobo instead.
