I was playing SNOW on my R9 290X 4G from MSI and Catalyst control suite said that the GPU was at 89°c, is that too hot?
I have a corsair 100r silent with 2 case fans. Thanks
First time that I have looked, only recently built the computer about 3 weeks ago, bought the GPU second hand off a mate who said he never had any issues with it
i wouldn't say that 89 is too hot, but its definitely hot! try nzxt cam software to get in-game real time cpu temperatures in the corner of the screen.
Ok, try running a custom fan speed, like 60%. You can do this using MSI Afterburner. See if the temperature stays below 75 degrees this way. If not, you might need to re-apply thermal paste to the GPU.
It can handle up to 97 degrees, I've run an XFX R9 290 Core Edition for a while at 94 degrees without any thermal throttling. It's not a comfortable temperature to have tho.
depend, some go up to 94 degree

Those are stock/reference models, except for the Asus DC overclocked maybe. MSI should stay below 75.
You cant just make up temps without knowing the ambient temp.
In any normal circumstance between 18-24 degrees it should stay around those temps. I'm going to automatically assume it is if there is no mention of extensively high ambient temps, because I think the OP has ambient temps past 25 or even 30 he would have mentioned it. Harsh to downvote on it.
