Specs:
Intel I7-3770K 3.5GHZ
16GB DDR3
Nvidia GTX 680 2GB
Issue:
I did a clean install of Windows 10 yesterday on this PC. Before, it was running Windows 7 and had no issues (several years). Now, the graphics card will randomly just stop sending information to the monitor. The PC is still running when this happens, mouse, keyboard, sound, fans, etc. Just, no signal to the monitor. Restarting does not fix it. I have to remove the graphics card and reseat it into the slot, then turn the computer back on, then it works just fine. This happens whenever I play a video game and it happened leaving my computer on and idle last night.
I was thinking maybe heat when it was playing games. But, usually the PC itself crashes when things over heat. And it wasn't. I also monitored temps and it didn't go over 50, the card is rated according to Nvidia up to 98. The CPU didn't go above 37.
I was then thinking maybe it was pulling too much power. But, it never did this before and it's not overclocked. It was also idle while the computer was on doing nothing over night. Seems odd I can browse the web, use programs, etc but just sitting idle all night it does it.
I have tried old drivers (3.58) and new drivers (3.68) and same issue.
My other PC I upgraded to Windows 10 isn't having any problems. It runs a GTX 650 with AMD 1055T and 16GB RAM.
I'm highly confused why this PC was working 100% fine until I changed the OS and is now doing this. It is mostly doing it when I play video games, any video games. However, I also turned the graphics way down on SWTOR and was able to play for several hours. Smite lasted about 10 minutes first time and 2 minutes the second time.
Any ideas on what else I can try? The whole I have to reseat it thing is also very confusing. I left it alone for 30 minutes and tried rebooting without messing with anything and it stayed black, no signal.
