Graphics card upgrade for a acer predator G5900 advice

Hello I want to upgrade my acer predator G5900 graphics card and I need some advice on if what I want would fit / work.

The current graphics card is an. Nvidia GeForce gtx 470 and the card I would like to upgrade and replace it with is MSI nvidia gtx 970 4gb.

If anyone can help that would be great I have not yet opened up my PC so all other parts are standard to the model but if you need to know any other specifics I will do my best to find out and tell you them.

Since you have GTX470 that's mean your PSU should be able to handle 970. Is it in SLI config? Also what is your CPU?

My CPU is 2.93GHz Intel Core i7 870 I am not sure about SLI config would I find out in system information? If so I will check next time I'm on it

you can check using GPU-Z to see SLI being enabled or not. nvidia control panel can also show the information. the easiest way to make sure is to peek inside your case. if you card 2 graphic card installed then that's mean your system indeed use SLI config.

Checked it with GPU-Z SLI is disabled but just replacing it with the gtx 970 is what I want to do .
