Graphics Card upgrade for HD Video Play

My Present Configuration is: ASUS M5A97 , AMD 970 (3.5 Ghz CPU), Kingston 8 GB/1333, WD 500 GB Black Hdd for OS & Program, 1 TB Green HDD for Backup, ASUS 9600 GT, 512 MB DDR III, CM 550 w PSU. My primary works are: Photo editing with Photoshop CS & Corel Draw, MY Sql, PHP, Adobe Dream Weaver for Website development, Playing game like Age of Empire III, Rise of Nation etc, And Enjoying HD Video (1080 P)

Now I want to upgrade my GPU to a Direct X 11 Card. Please suggest me a GPU within 160 $. Is Nvidia cards are better for hd video play back?

Any card will support hd video playback. You can get a HD 7750 and HD 7770 at that price range. But truly speaking you don't need either your requirements will be fulfilled even by a ATI HD 5570 $50. But is is always good to have some power in reserve.

The work that you do except playing games and watching GD video are processor centered. If you need better performance with those application a processor upgrade is advisable.

My present video card i.e. Nvidia 9600 gt/512 mb ddr3, has no problem in hd video playback, It runs smoothly any hd video i have played. But the problem is the gpu runs a little bit hot up to 85 c. sometimes. So i need a new generation gpu with direct x 11 card to upgrade it.

Is it running at 85 c when it is idling? If that is it then it is running pretty hot. Try replacing the thermal paste? If it runs at 85c under load then it is fine.
If you want a new graphics card get a hd 7750.

No its under load. But one of my friend have nvidia 560ti & his card is only 65 c under same load. I try to replacing the thermal paste but it does not help... any way thanks fopr your reply...

nVidia 500 series uses different architecture and it is no wonder that it is at 65c under load.

Those old card are meant to be hot under load and manufactures kept that in mind while making them. You card is fine upto 95c temperature.

I have a Ati hd 4850 and the temperature soared to 130c while playing crysis 2 and I completed crysis 2 using that card and there is no problems yet on the card.
