I've an amd Athlon 2600+ 333mhz pc which I want to upgrade.
It has 2gb of ram so I want to upgrade the graphics card. Any idea what's the best graphics card this will take?

Solution
Poole zinc - let me explain.

Athlon XP 2600+ hits somewhere around 350 points at cpubenchmark.net.
Core i7 2600K hits somewhere around 8000 points.
Core i7 4790K lands somewhere around 11000 points.

For low-end GPU You need about 3000 - 4000 points to run her "normally" and PCi-e port. You have AGP port, which cannot house anything else besides 6800 Ultra, or 4650 and 3650 for AGP, maybe X1900 and 7900 AGP, but getting them is nearly impossible, and You'd need to OC Your CPU heavily, or get a new CPU. Also everything besides 3650 will be throttled heavily by Your CPU.
that's a HUGE NO. First, Athlon XP system has AGP port only, it's 2 generations soon for PCi-e. Unless You have some hidden information about AGP GTX 970 [which is impossible from tech view]. Second, Athlon X2 2600+ has a power of low-end android phone "roughpower-wise". You switched it with 2600K from Intel, which is approximately 30x stronger [according to cpubenchmark.net].

Poole zinc - No, there's no GPU in todays lines that'd be well with 2600+. You have to upgrade both mobo and ram and cpu. You're missing both silicon muscle and PCi-e port. Not even theoretically You can run some of the 2010+ VGAs.

Athlon XP 2600+ was running well with Ge-Force 256, and maybe Ti4200, but nothing more. And I also doubt Ti4200. I know mine 2600+ couldn't run FX 5600. Had to upgrade to X2 6000+.

I was really just trying to get a better graphics card rather than upgrading the cpu etc. is there no way of just buying a card that will run with this processor?

Ok thanks, as you can tell I'm not too technical regarding hardware.
I'm ok on software etc but it seems like a processor might be the way to go.
Is it easy to replace the processor or will I need a whole new motherboard etc
