Graphics card upgrade

Hello,
I have an emachine w5243 (mcp61sm-gm) and im looking to up grade the graphics card its on board is a nvidia gforce 6100 nforce 405 will a NVIDIA GeForce G210 512MB DDR2 PCI Express (PCIe) DVI/VGA Video Card w/HDMI & HDCP Support work in this computer and is it better than the stock

What is the make/model of your PSU?

The GT210 isn't a good card.It's very slow and you might have trouble using it at higher resolutions.

Depending on your PSU I would suggest going with a 5570/6570.

obviously it is better than stock........... but up gradation depends on u taste of game and resolution...........

When you do an upgrade of any kind as a rule of thumb you want to move uo 3 versions to make your upgrade worth while , you don't want to go sideways opn your upgrade. Here is the graphics card chart by Tomshardware;

NVIDIA GeForce G210 i can get one for $30 i have metal of honnor and cant play it at all with the stock gpu so somthing got to be better and fit in the computer psu is 350w for now ill get a bigger one if i have to

I would still reccomend the 5570/6570.MoH isn't very demanding so you should be able to play it on at least medium settings possibly high.Granted the GT210 is still an improvement over the intergreated GPU but you might as well spend the extra cash for the 6570/5570.The 5570/6570 only consumes 10 watts more but it almost triples the performance of a GT210.

im haveing trouble finding a card that will fit in the computer im just looking to upgrade to somthing better than stock and will fit if the g210 will fit and is better ill get it i do play games to much

Good ol emachine. Well that case is big enough for you to put something like a 5770 in there, but that would require a PSU upgrade. I have a 3850 in the eMachine case I modded. For you, I say get a Radeon 5570.

I assume it's using an Athlon Dual Core. What's the rest of your specs?

I believe it's one of the first gen Athlons.

The 5570/6570 is a low profile card so you will have no problem getting it to fit.

In the end it's your decision i'm just saying that you have a better bargin with the 5570 compared to the GT210.Doubling,almost tripling your performance for an extra $20.

Ah, a Brisbane 6000+. Not a bad little machine. Well, you could get a 5670 but that may be pushing it a little with that PSU (I know it's only a few more watts but still).

The antec high current gamer 520W is also a good choice. With either PSU you can carry over the PSU and video card to a new build. You can even add a second 6770 to run in crossfire in a new build latter on.

By the way, what resolution do you want to play at? I'd say that in most cases that CPU is a decent match for a 5770 for 1680x1050 or even 1080p at medium details. Of course some more CPU demanding games will require you to turn down more CPU intensive options (physics and particles) but as long as the minimum requirements are less than the 6000+ you should be o.k
