Graphics card very hot with side panel on

My graphics card gets ~80 degrees C while gaming which I know isn't that high but if I take the side panel off, it goes down to ~70 degrees C. How can I fix this? Idles temps improved from ~50 C to about ~45 without the side panel as well.

It would suggest you need better airflow through your case. Either add more fans or configure the fans you have to give better flow.

What would be the best configuration for the corsair carbide 100r? I've tried rearranging the fans and it didn't change much.
I have 2 intakes in the front and 1 fan in the back and 1 fan with a radiator on top.

what kind of gpu do you have? is it a with a referance cooler? blowback style... is the radiator cooling the cpu? what kind of ambient temps are you having?

I have the xfx r9 390x dual dissipation. The radiator IS cooling the cpu and ambient temps are about ~50 C.

80'c when gaming is totally fine on that GPU. The 290/390 are power heavy hot running gpus. Theres nothing to worry about at all.

The reference 290 would hit 95'c under load, which AMD said is normal.
