Hi guys, first time builder here. My Gigabyte GTX 970 couldn't fit into my case as the lip thingy which is supposed to stick out of the back of the case wasn't bent at an angle enough to clear the edge. After some pushing and soving I finally got it to fit but now the card still won't go all the way in. There's a large gap where the two holes should meet to screw the card in and between the pins and the PCIE slot. I've tried applying some force but the card just won't go in any further. I'm using a Gigabyte Z97 X SLI motherboard and my case is a Corsair Carbide 300R Windowed. I'll put a link to some pictures so hopefully you can see what I mean. Thank you in advance for your help.

exactly. the slot COVERS sometimes put the tabs to the outside, but ALL CARDS have the tabs on the inside, between the mobo and the case. the only thing that should be sticking THROUGH the openings are the connectors for the monitors.
Hi
Your problem is that you have the bottom of the metal brackets hooked into the slots, these should actually just slide between the motherboard and the case if you do this you will find the card will easily slot into place.

in your third photo, i see that you have the little feet at the bottom of the card's io plate sticking through the card slot holes in the back of the case. they should be inside the case. it seems like your hole covers bend out to sit outside, but that is not how the gpu should go in, if you seat it straight down in, not sticking the feet through the card slot holes, it should go in properly.

Thanks guys. I'll try that out later today. As giantbucket said my case had the bent part of the slot covers sticking out so I assumed my graphics card would do the same.

EDIT: Just saw slots at the back of my case in the gap next to the board. If only I'd seen those earlier XD
