Hello.

Last night my GPU, AMD Radeon 7970 decided to stop working alongside the AMD driver, it's been running fine since november last year.

Everytime I start it normally (no-safemode) it gives me the Black Screen Of Death

I removed the card and went on using the Integrated graphics on my mobo: Z77A-GD65. It booted up properly and i was able to uninstall the driver and run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)

So now with NO driver at all it boots normally, but as soon as i try installing the driver the screen goes black.

Does anyone have any solution to how I can install the drivers?

Yes I'm fully aware of what you can't do with the basic VGA driver, and what you can't do in safe mode. All I wanted to clarify is that the card itself physically works, but it does seem to have developed a hardware fault which doesn't manifest itself until it's advanced features are activated by the Catalyst driver.

So some advanced feature component (or several components) on the card are faulty.

The card works in limited mode with the basic Microsoft driver because those particular components are not activated.

That's my belief anyway. Faulty card.

Catalyst 12.9 was the one I had when i first got the card, I downloaded it now and it got me to the login screen. Then Black Screen Of Death

Without AMD driver it starts like it would any other day, BUT I cannot launch any type of program that takes allot of video memory (Cinema4D,Minecraft,Battlefield 4,Titanfall) that type of programs won't launch without the Catalyst software.
It gives me the errormessage "Failed to CreateGameWindow. Resolution unsupported?"

As soon as I try installing AMD Catalyst Suite the screen blacks out and won't respond to anything.

Edit:
I even tried installing Catalyst Suite 12.9,14.4beta and 14.4 non-beta, in safe-mode.
But the computer won't register the card in safe-mode.

I also switched the PCI-E ports and tried installing, problem still persists.
