Graphics Card Working But Wont Display

Hi,
I built my pc the other day and everything is working fine but the graphics card. When I turn on the pc the graphics card lights up and the fans spin, though nothing is displayed on the screen. When I connect the hdmi cable to the integrated graphics it works fine. I went into the bios to check if the card would be recognised though it wasn't so I tried changing the pcie slot, and even though it turned on it wasn't recognised either. Is my gpu broken or could it be my motherboard or something else?

ram: corsair vengeance (2x4gb)

Are u sure u r power connection to the graphics card is proper (1 6xpin and 1 8xpin)
And try changing your display cable with others as well (dvi) .

Thanks for replying. Yeah I'm pretty sure the power connection is good. It has 2x 8pin and i plugged everything in. I tried changing the display cables, though i still got a "no signal" error.
