So I am stuck. I currently have a XFX 7870 card. However, I don't know whether to upgrade as i am also going to get a new cpu(fx8360). Should i upgrade my gpu also or keep my current one. I play games such as battlefield 4 and arma 3.Here are my current specs:

AMD FX-6300
Asus M5A99X mobo
XFX Radeon 7870
XFX 550W PSU

So is it worth upgrading my graphics card as well as my cpu?

Solution
I doubt the new FX-8350 (60?) will make much difference alone. The HD 7870 was not being bottle necked by the FX-6300. Especially if you had the CPU OC'ed. Any limitation you had at gaming was gfx card related. Not that the HD 7870 is a slouch, it's not.
So you could get a faster card and keep the FX-6300 if you want instant performance improvement. But there will be little or no gaming performance gain with the CPU swap alone.

Thanks a lot! Any suggestions on a mid-range priced card?

Yeah, and it does all that at only 145W. 35W less than your HD 7870: http://www.hwcompare.com/18058/geforce-gtx-970-vs-radeon-hd-7870/

You mean of the GTX 970s? You may not have much choice. I just looked at Newegg's site and all but an Evga are sold out.
Personally, I always try to find the one(s) with the fastest core clock. And in the case of the GTX 970, the fastest boost clock too. But if you go with the 970, be sure to OC the FX-6300 so you don't have a CPU bottle neck in CPU limited games.
