Everytime I just chill on my computer or on get into a game the drivers usually crash and when they dont crash i lose a lot of frames. For example on league i get 300 fps and when the drivers dont crash i usually get 100 fps.
MY graphics is a Gigabyte GTX650 Ti GDDR5-2GB 2xDVI/HDMI/D-SUB OC Graphics Card (GV-N65TOC-2GI REV2.0) and my coa XPS 8500.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH, oh I feel your pain so much on this one. I have the same card and have been having nothing but trouble with the drivers for months. I'm actually about to say screw it and buy a different card. (Does your driver also get blown away every time Windows installs updates and reboots - even if you're manually installing to avoid graphics drivers?)
Here is the only thing from support that made any difference for me:
"Sometimes going back to an older driver can help. For 600 series, driver version 314.22 work well in situations like this."
Meaning - they've gotten this issue before and still haven't fixed it. Fun fact: 314.22 is a driver from last March. Good news is, it's mostly worked for me.
I tried both your ideas and it has improved a bit but i still crash. I noticed that when i play borderless or windowed it doesnt crash but when i play fullscreen it crashed. Thats something i noticed but i havent tried this on many things. Any other ideas.

When the crash do you get any error messages that have any error codes? Are you on the 335.14 WHQL Drivers (AKA the latest?) I managed to kill my drivers last night while over clocking, but that is a different story.
I can't remember the exact error but a pop up comes up saying the kernel mode driver crashed or something like that. I am currently on drivers 314.22 to see if a different driver works but it didn't. I have tried using 335.14 i also crash with that driver.

Windows 8 I just changed a setting in the nvidia control panel from adaptive to max performance it helps but now sometimes when i play the screen blinks black for like half a second or a second. Not too frequent though.
