Hello! i've had my computer for about 1 year and a half now, and i have'n had any problems whatsoever with it. Recently i have started to game a bit on it and everything have been running smoothly, then i got into this game called TERA, an MMORPG, i was able to play at highest settings wothout any problems which i thought was awesome. But then one day when i logged on i noticed already on the character selection screen that it was lagging rreally, really badly! "Well this is weird, maybe it'll stop if i log in" i thought... so very naive...
what i had waiting for me was a freaking laggfest! So i hurried to the settings screen ( which took like 3 min) and i put everything on lowest on graphic settings, and it became alot smoother, it was still not perfect but it was alot better.
So basically, it's like my graphic card got weak overnight or something! i didn't download something speciall from what i remember. it was like it hit the wall or something. This is of course extremely frustrating nut i didn't know what to do, so i'm asking you internet guys(or girls ofc, don't wanna offend someone) with alot of experience with computers (i'm not btw) for help! Please!

If the game has been patched.. you probably cant play without the latest patch..
But it is...
i opened it up, vaccumed inside and blew out the dust. i didn't take the parts out and cleaned them properly though ( cuz i didn't have the balls) all fans are moving properly, didn't work. anything else? :/

Well... I presume its a desktop device? not laptop?

And I presume you have not fiddled and connected monitor cable to onboard graphics rather that a dedicated graphics card?

generally if you have dedicated card then the onboard will be disabled.. so it should not happen. .

And you have not tidied up and uninstalled the drivers or installed new (incorrect) drivers or anything?

Could be a lot of things.. especially if you not sure what you doing around computers..

You described the problem nicely - but not gives us much tech details about your card/drivers etc to go on.

Cheers

yea it's a desktop. yea i realized that i would just fuck more things up if i tried to play genius and fiddle with everything, i have the latest drivers, should be the right ones if i'm not completely stupid,

Some tech info.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3450 CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601) Service Pack 1 (7601.win7sp1_gdr.130828-1532)
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti

anything else vital that needs to be known? thanks in advance

might add that if i need to uppgrade something then please say so, all i want is a no laggy, fast computer, cost what it will... but not you know, over the top. i have my limits x)

So is it just that game? or you using that as an example and your slowdown is effecting everything?
If its just that game. .they patched it? or you added/updated any addons?
Have seen numerous games where an addon he gone rogue and lagged out the game

Cheers

Yea now that you Mention it, they DID patch it! Can that be the reason? It feels like other things got a bit slower aswell but i'm probably just imagining that, and i'm not playing any other games so i don't know if it's all the games that are lagging either. i ran a repair just before on the game client, if it is the patch, do you have any idea how it can be fixed? Thanks!

If the game has been patched.. you probably cant play without the latest patch..
But it is unusual for the game to have such a bad impact.. you would expect worst issues to be picked up and fixed befoe they release the patch.. but strange stuff does happen. Check the games support forums.. see if others are reporting same/similar.

But it can be the patched game breaks addons... which can certainly have such dramatic effects.

So you got some work to do.. find out if it just that game.. or everything.. and if it game.. check forums and addons... or it everything. recheck your graphic card fan and check temperatures of graphics card and CPU.. see where the bottleneck is.
