Graphics Memory changes in bios won't apply in Windows

Hi everyone,
It's has been few months that I have bought a Lenovo X240 (i5-4300U).
It came with Windows 7 Pro, I used it till Windows 10 came out and then I upgraded it.
The problem is that there is an option in the BIOS which allow to choose Graphics Memory for Internal Adapter (256MB and 512MB).
But the changes do not apply. I mean it doesn't matter which value I choose (256MB or 512MB), the VRAM is still the same. In Windows 7, it would be 64MB but now in Windows 10; it became 128MB.
Can someone tell me what is the problem ?

And yes, I know that increasing the memory will hardly have effect on graphics performance. I am more concerned about why it does not work.

- i5-4300U
- 4Gb ram
- 500GB HDD
- Windows 10 Pro (14393 Build)

with integrated gpu, it will use as much as it need/available in windows.

Sounds like agp aperture, and I think it would reserve that much physical ram for your onboard graphics. With a dedicated video card this setting probably won't do anything.

Do you mean available physical memory (RAM) ?
If so, I don't think so. A friend of mine have an Asus X551 with pentium 2117U and 4GB RAM. His laptop offers DVMT changing option in bios, he can get up to 512MB and changes apply upon reboot.

Well, this model does not have a dedicated video card (is there even a version of the X240 with a dedicated gpu ?)

Didn't realize it was a laptop, in that case it's like the minimum setting you want for your video ram, the system can use more if necessary but you reserve some in order to display the desktop and all the effects and such. Use a higher setting for gaming, or less for regular browsing.
