graphics question

hi i intend to build a new pc not for dvd or gaming but more for viewing and
touching up of still photos as a hobby
do i need an additional graphics card or can the new mobo on board graphics
do the job.

appreciate anybody's help here

my answer is as generic as your question - if you get a powerful mobo it
will do nicely!

In most cases yes. What you require is a MB with more of a feature set
and stability than gaming features. Generally P4 and Intel boards are
the absolute most historically stable, but I would recommend something
like the NForce2 in your case.

1 reason, bandwidth. You're going to need a lot of memory and raw
system throughput for large photos and editing, so it's nice to have a
capable board -- and they're cheap and absolutely stable.

Onboard graphics are usually fine for any 2d work. The newer Intel
integrated chips do very well, but some still use shared memory, so
compensate for that with more RAM.
