Gray X on icons

I just noticed gray x's on my desktop icons, except for recycle bin. Can someone tell me what it is?

They look like offline files to me. Are those files stored elsewhere like on a server or NAS?

They are not on a server or NAS. These are shortcuts to the program on the computer.

IF you click on them does the program open up just fine? I would also check your installed programs and make sure no funky programs have been installed recently as well.

I found out that they were being shared. I have disabled this and the problem has resolved.

It is Windows 10. Never happened before
