Quiet frankly I dunno what's the difference between state-sponsored news and hate-driven religious-blasphemy that is Faux News.

You can speak out against Fox News and not disappear the next day.

Because for every Faux News story there is another one from the Clinton News Network slanted the other way. We have diversity and choice! State news is all the same.

[citation][nom]the_krasno[/nom]Somebody already was voting down comments. Chinese censorship maybe?[/citation]

Nope, user based censorship (however not really censored so much as tucked away, you can still see the "offending" comments if you want), key word in your post was "vote."

If China had a good reason for censoring searches, I think many would be more sympathetic to them (myself included). It just seems like the powers that be, are afraid to lose their control/power, so they force feed controlled propoganda.

all i know is that if u tell someone not to think about a big pink elephant .... thats all u gona be thinkin about .... china doesn't get that logic

[citation][nom]Adidaz[/nom]Can they google porn? lol[/citation]

porn isn't necessarily 100% illegal in china but paying for live webcam and such generally is. it is funny too that if u find live cams, they always are 100% filipino. seems like there are other asian countries with similar laws as china that aren't being talked about here. possibly korea and vietnam.

Ha, you breached the topic man, I'm just following through with it.

At least we get both sides of the story, from both sets of extremists, and us middle-of-the-road folks get to sift through the crap and find the truth.

The peoples of China get no such opportunity.

[citation][nom]kelemvor4[/nom]Sometimes.[/citation]

Okay, mental image of being roughed up by Sheperd Smith, and forced into Rupert Murdoch's work camps is too funny.

@soldier
You have to be utterly kidding. You are really falling for that paranoid, slippery-slope (a logical fallacy, by the way) crap?
I have my qualms about Obama as well but seriously, saying he's trying to turn us into China? Be sane and reasonable, not paranoid. You tend to act as those you listen to so perhaps you should try listening to some reasonable people sometimes.

I for one am ashamed my state is suing over the bill, next they'll be suing for losing an election...

[citation][nom]soldier37[/nom]This is how America will be in a few years if Obama gets his way. Its started already with forced health care, whats next on his agenda? I'm glad my state is suing against it![/citation]

Part of the douchebagger.... er sorry, teabagger movement I see. Epic fail. It's not Obama per-se anyway, 216 reps voted in favor of the bill, AFTER it passed the senate as well. You lost, act like a soldier "soldier37" and stop crying.

It's funny that people in China can find the truth about Health care reform via the internet, even with all the firewalls and blocks in place, but these fools with open access can only seem to parrot Rush Limbo's crazy rants. "I want my country back!!" LMAO.

You either have health insurance already, or will be getting it. What is the problem with that? Oh, I see, you just don't want others to get it too. It's only "forced" if you didn't already have it. I don't know anyone currently without insurance that is upset they will be getting it soon enough. How dare the Gov't help others get coverage!??? My brother is self employed, he's been without health ins for over 10 years because of the cost. Finally, he'll have the chance to get treated for illness/injuries without worrying about going bankrupt in the process. That's worth a few extra dollars out of my paycheck.

This just show how strong the Chinese government is. They would not yield to big businesses like Google. And the U.S. Government can do nothing about it. Can you now feel what it's like living in China?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiananmen_Square_protests_of_1989

According to the Chinese Government the above massacre never happened.

But for the rest of the world we were shocked at the horror of an oppressive regime killing its smartest and brightest young students.

I support Google's decision.

There is a moral stance here ...

Many ofthe Chinese Gen Y simply don't have access to history.

C Wright Mills spoke of the sociological imagination ... hard to develop when your missing large chunks of your own history.

Does anybody else see what has happened here?
Google have used their muscle as the world's number one search engine and made a threat to leave the China market in order to bring about change in China. This is a most noble effort on Google's part.
China unfortunately have called - and are in effect saying to Google, there's the door.
Google have been procrastinating for weeks now and seem to be getting cold feet. The transfer of the domain to Hong Kong smacks of desparation of a company wishing to cling on the business but at the same time wanting to appear as they are following up on their talk. Unfortunately the only person walking away from this without any credit is Google. China stands by and looks unwavering in it's stance of the firewall policy. Right or wrong, it is the law of the land - e.g. some of the points in US Patriot Act look effensive to me, but I can make a choice whether to go to the US or not.
The only thing left for Google to do, is to make a clear statement - Google will leave the China market on this date. END STATEMENT. END EPISODE. Yahoo and MSN, obviously will pickup the slack, unless they show some guts and side with Google too.

This was never about censorship! Google was criminally hacked by China and their property stolen end of story. Besides, everyone knows that the only reason China wants Google there is to steal their technology and train their college graduates until they don't need them anymore. This is the way China is with everything, use you until they don't need you anymore and then get rid of you. What is really funny is how people point the finger at Google about censorship even though this was never the issue concerning China but Baidudu the Chinese search engine pulls up plenty of pornographic links and no one seems to be telling them to follow the laws of China or get out! Hypocrites! Boycott China Nations of the World!

I'm currently in China for work. I noticed some issues accessing Google.com and Google.com.hk earlier this morning. Fortunately, I have a VPN connection to the rest of the non-crazy world.

wow.. interesting.. but it's hard to boycott a nation.. that we owe so much money to.. we may not be CALLED China Part 2.. but let's be honest folks, they own us.. and we can't live without them.. and if we tried to live without them, they could pull their bucks out and really put the hurt on us...

plus, it doesn't say, MADE in the USA on the back of your keyboard does it? probably not.. my first keyboard was made in the US.. way back in 1983.. but not anything anymore..

and Obama.. well.. if we aren't careful, what's to stop us one day becoming China Part 2.. I mean, we can't compete with them, they are paying for a lot of of what we are doing.. and we pay them for everything else.. why not just become like them and cut out the middle man?

but hats off to Google for standing up against for what they believe in, the freedom for all to have access to ALL information. hmm.. I wonder if I have that same right to have ALL the information on Obama Care? without having to sue for it?

It's interesting that a corporation, from whatever western country, would choose to stand up for what it right over profit margins. I'm not for giant monoliths of corporations that think they are impervious to any governments regulations but them getting out of China was taking a stand for sure.
