I took out my GPU a few minutes ago to dust it. I have a temporary server PC setup, and the PCI slot/ the metal piece that seats the GPU correctly is a bit off, leaving my GPU some odd wiggle room. After dusting it off, I reseated it, having a bit of trouble due to the odd placement of the PCI slot. Cut on my PC, and had red, blue and green lines running across the BIOS splash screen. The Windows boot splash screen looked like a pool of blood. I freaked out, turned of my PC unplugged/replugged my HDMI cable, accidentally wiggled the GPU in the slot a bit, and now the problem is fixed. Should I be worried?

No i think it was from the cable actually. that is usually a cable thing.

It wasn't secured with screws- it was secured with a plastic clip that I couldn't figure out how to place back in the case either because I'm dumb or because it wasn't meant to hold a large GPU into the server. For now, I've flipped the case on it's side, but haven't had any other incidents of the lines. Thoughts?

Just be super careful I guess. Wiggling is always bad news, high chance of splitting the slot.

So the slot is at danger? Not the GPU? To be honest I could care less about the slot, the whole thing is a temporary rig anyway. I'm just scared because I'll need the GPU when I get my new components.

So you think that the reason for the lines in improper seating? I just need to know that I didn't permanently damage my card.

So the cable was half unplugged or something? Idk. I'll make another post if anything happens but for now....
