Hello,

Recently my Philips 234CL started experiencing some problems. There are now green flickering lights on darker areas of images, videos and in video games. Here is an example :

I am sure these green pixels aren't dead since they can appear on every "darkish" surface but can also stay perfectly normal on the lighter, more bright images. I want to know if this problem can be solved since I'd rather buy a new GPU than a monitor. Also here is the list of tests I've done to see what's the problem...

Reinstalled monitor's and GPU's drivers, no effect
Disabled GPU to see if it's GPU's fault but even with integrated graphics I still saw these green pixels
Connected a different monitor and it worked just fine
Tried to use a different HDMI cable but no effect
Tried connecting monitor through VGA output but still same results
Connected the monitor to a different PC but still saw green flickering

Solution
Fixed it myself. It turns out sRGB coloring function just stopped working so I had to change to the "User Defined" option which looks a a bit worse but at least I've got a working monitor again!

I tried tweaking the refresh rate a bit but without any success and I can assure you I tried three different HDMI cables and yet again without any effect.

How long have you owned that PC? I did a google search and majority of monitors with that problem are likely bad monitors. Otherwise, It sounds more than likely that your video card is dieing or even a motherboard problem perhaps.

I bought the computer 4-5 years ago along with the monitor. The GPU is only 2 years old since the last one broke down.

The GPU works fine with the other 1240x1024 monitor. I also connected the broken monitor to the different PC and still saw the green flickering.

Yep, looks like a serious hardware failure. And a strange one too since I called the tech service and they said it's the first time they are hearing someone with a problem like this. Thanks for your help.
