Hi Guys, I have a Dell laptop that turns but is so low on battery it shuts off quite quickly! When I plug in the charger, the green light on the charger shuts off immediately! Same thing happens when I remove the battery and plug in the charger again!

Solution
I would tend to agree with the above. The green light shutting off on the power adapter/charger is most likely due to the fact that the battery can no longer hold a charge, therefore the adapter/charger will not move power through to charge the battery.

Would recommend a new battery. If that fails to solve the problem, purchase a new adapter/charger. Worst case is you have 2 new components to power your laptop - typically both are fairly inexpensive. Don't necessarily need to stick with Dell components, although I'm sure some may feel otherwise.

Good luck!

I don't think it's the battery because the battery can power up the device but is so low on power from not being charged it doesn't last long. The problem begins when you try to plug in the charger . . . .the green light goes off that indicates the charger has just temporarily shorted out!

i also faced the same issue . I went to dell service center , they said that motherboard is gone and we have to replace it . The cost is 11000 + service charges . I said no and and came back to a local shop . The local guy looks genuine . He checked the motherboard and said that its not burn . No issue with mother board . He told that he need some time to find the actual issue . So i came back to office . He called me after 2-3 hours and said that some component and burn and it will cost 2500 . He fixed it and now its working perfectly fine (finger crossed) :)

can you find out which component was replaced? I have the same issue, took the motherboard out en want to replace the Jack connecter for the power supply. have no idea if that is the cause though. 🙁

Most common issue is with a component called the DC-in jack. It is the small cable that connects your external power supply to the motherboard directly. These are fairly cheap like about $1 but the cost to put them in varies based on the service center. Personally I charge $20 plus parts

Hi buddy
I have Alienware 18 laptop
It was working well, but one day all of a sudden out of blue it just shut down.
When i tried to start it it woundn't and then when i tried to plug the power adapter in, the light on the power adapter would go off on plugging it into the laptop.
I replaced the motherboard and installed new battery yesterday, but it's still doing the same thing.
Any ideas/tips/help would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks
Anup

Remove the laptop and check the charger pin inside, there would be a small pin fallen on it...... remove that pin issue will be fixed....

All the Best..........
