So first off i have a 1 year old pc rig which consists of a i5-4690k and a r9 280x that is not overclocked. Today when i was streaming and playing CSGO i got this black and white lines going down my screen on my first monitor which is a BENQ XL2411z and on my second monitor which was some hp monitor had a green screen. It stayed like that until i rebooted in which there were green lines that looked to be rotation vertically across both of my monitors with these grey blocks go horizontally. After about 3 retries and 10 minutes of waiting these green lines went away and everything is normal again. My computer has been running fine ever since it was built. I dont know why this problem has come up, could it be that i am overusing my computer? I need an answer fast before my computer dies for good. Thank you.

It can be a sign that the R9 280x card you have for graphics and playing games on your system is, or could be getting very
warm or hot.

It is generally a good idea about every year to at least take the side off your tower and system case.
and remove the Pci-e based graphics card for a quick clean and service by checking for any dust buildup in between the cooling find of the graphics card cooling solution and the fans of the card.

Either use a small clean paint brush to remove any dust buildup, or use a air canister with a straw to blow dust out of the cooling fins of the card.

You will be amazed just how much dust gets sucked in and trapped in the space of just a years use Dylan.

I've seen visual anomalies caused by a few issues. It could be power related (least likely), it could also be failing VRAM (more likely), or it could be a connection problem.

Just recently I was helping a friend of my son's with his computer. He connected his graphics card to a TV via HDMI. While working on his computer I used it at my computer station connected via HDMI to my monitor. I was getting this noise which appeared as random green horizontal lines. Moving the HDMI cable or changing the orientation of the tower would cause it to increase / decrease / disappear. It was apparent that it was a contact issue. I changed HDMI cables with no difference. Then I pulled the HDMI connector out until it was almost unplugged and the lines disappeared. Tactically I could tell that at this point the contacts in the cable to the card were the tightest as this is where the most frictional resistance was. So my guess is that his HDMI cable wasn't plugging in fully or possibly that his cable connector fit tighter than most and had caused the contacts in the graphics card to fatigue / stretch which caused issues with less tight fitting cables.

As it will greatly reduce the temperatures of the gpu on the graphics card when in operation.
As what you saw, is common when the Gpu or memory of the graphics card begins to get too hot.

I just cleaned my whole computer with a dust sweeper, got a lot of dust out but not all. I think that the dust was the problem. I am going to be giving my computer a monthly clean for now on. Thank you.
