So I've been getting an issue which is really weird.
I initially thought it was a problem with my TV as it already had issues however I've got a new TV and a new (second hand, the old one had an amp error) AVR.
I run my PC into my TV (Sony Barvia OLED) via an AVR using HDMI.
I've had some short graphics dropouts (black screen for maybe one or two seconds) but tonight while watching a movie my PC went from a black to a green screen (solid green, no error message) if I unplugged the HDMI cable from the PC end I would get my display back for maybe 2-3 seconds with no distortion.
I tried turning the PC off. It would post, go to the BIOS splash screen, I could open BIOS if I wanted and it would go to the boot screen with the "<USERNAME> then loading symbol. After I loaded into my OS it would green screen.
Eventually I tried hitting alt-tab really quickly after plugging the HDMI cable back in and the PC worked fine after a new window popped up due to hitting alt tab. However if I restart the issue persists (I'm doing a Windows update right now to see if that fixes anything) and the "unplug, replug and alt tab quickly" trick seems to sort things out.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
GPU is an AMD RX480, CPU is a Ryzen 5 2500. I've been using this setup for years with this issue on and off. Though the fact that things work in BIOS and I can see the loading background as well as a screen seems to hint at it not being hardware. Especially as an unplug and replug fixes it.
I am using a 10m long HDMI cable, so could that be the issue? Or is it more likely to be software?
If you have any ideas of what the issue could be I'd appreciate some help. I put this in system as I'm not sure if the issue is with my GPU, the motherboard, or my OS.
Thanks

Edit: Running Windows update seems to have fixed it (for now) but this has been an issue for a while, long before the update came out. If this has happened to you or you know what might be happening I would still like to know as it will more than likely happen again.
