Well it's been a while since I posted this link.. long before many of you.

I used to live 45 minutes from him and have family who lives down the street from him. He took some tech his grandfather had been working on back during WWII and actually got it working. He jumped through all the hoops to get all the patents. He needed one last one from the US Gov't.. before all the patents were revoked and he was shut down.
He had a factory ready to go, he was ready to hire people, and the cost per unit, last I recall, was around $6,400 and would fit onto select engines he had designed it around.
US Gov't shut him down because it put their hybrids to shame after investing heavily into GM and other techs. It caused a big issue with Cash For Clunkers because those cars became economically viable again.
The local newspaper did a little spin with him and averaged around like 81 mpg with him showing off the HP and cruising backroads. He was going to have an engine in a prototype car from Indiana but that company wasn't able to finish their car with enough time to allow him to install the engine. I believe that company later went out of business. But he drove his car to Vegas and let it idle in front of every, for hours on hours to show how little fuel it used at a car show.
Only in the last two years did he finally reveal how he was able to achieve his efficiency.. and you really can't doubt the tech he has built. Ford and GM offered to buy it but he wanted to get it out to the consumer, not into the hands of a company that might kill it off in hopes of selling their hybrids in which they invested so heavily in.
