GRID autosport desktop crash

hi all,
picked up grid autosport today and as yet not been able to play the game.

system specs; windows 8.1 64
and phenom 965
8gb (2x4) ddr3 1333
no ssd just wd hdd
gtx 460

so i started the game and was going through the setting as then the first desktop crash happened, thought nothing of it into it happened a second time. from this point i set all my settings to minimum and ran the benchmark test, 25 seconds into the test it crashes back to desktop. this crash happens on any video settings.

so from this point i started searching to find a few things, i have changed the dx10 forced to true updated my nvidia drivers to the beta 340 turned every setting to off and still it crashes.
so i reinstalled the game and still the same problem.

crash straight to desktop, no warning no information on the crash..

any help would be appreciated.

make the game exe exempt in your antivirus if it has active scanning turned on.
make sure your running the game with admin privs. as the game may crash if it isnt elevated and trys to save.

are you running any kind of exotics like sli or overclocking?
dis you also install all the redistribution files in the redist folder in the game install folder. you may need a vcredist or directx update

no exotics running at all just stock with a single gpu, the game runs through steam so i also tried running the validation check and all seems fine on that point and my dx is all up to date along with all my drivers and os.

so you checked the event logs in control panel both application and system? not just the steam logs?.

yep just rechecked then, ran grid autosport and as it crashed checked the application logs system and the steam logs with nothing to show.

it as if u just alt+f4.

i have contacted the customer support of codemasters and also have a post on the grid autosport forums, but as yet no response from either.

i have found some crash reports from the grid autosport.

they come up as a mdmp file, so looking into how to open this file as no software i have can open these.

i will update as soon as i manage to open one

this is the only item with the crash log from the steam folder.

nothing else on my system with a crash log or error log regarding to grid autosport.

The game froze on start up and with a windows lockup as well and nothing I tried worked until I did the following and the now the game starts fine with no problems in full screen mode. Set the changes below to be able to start the game, and once in game, I changed the windowed to full screen. I have not tested changing the other values back to "true" status but with only the full screen change in game seemed fix the freeze.

I edited (hardware_settings_config.xml) and changed
directx forcedx10="false" (it was "true")
fullscreen="false" (it was "true")
stereo enabled="true" (it was set to something else, cant remember!)
