Grim Fandango: Remastered for XP

So I bought a copy of Double Fine's Grim Fandango: Remastered and tried installing it on my Windows XP only to find out that this 1998 game isn't compatible with XP! I use my XP for playing everything from XCOM UFO Defense to Monkey Island to Diablo 1 to FarCry! Grim Fandango would be the perfect addition to my old school collection! Is there anyway around this? I tried installing an original copy of Grim Fandango with a patch but the original can't handle my quad core processor! It freezes constantly...

Problem with Windows 7 is there is no IPX Lan for Warcraft 2 which I play with my wife! So I don't want to upgrade! I'm a 90's guy.

Have you tried disabling 3 of your 4 cores to run Grim Fandango?

I tried the BOOT.ini option to use one core, and the gameplay itself works fine, but the sound is incredibly buggy (when you initiate conversations the sound will turn into a broken record player and repeat itself over and over). I have to close the game and restart it almost every time I venture into a new room. I'm using a creative labs sound blaster x-fi extreme music card.
