I built a new system here are the specs

- Case Thermaltake GT10 Snowedition
- i7 4770k 3.5ghz
- gtx 970
- MSI z97 GD65
- corsair hx1050
- corsair h100i
- Samsung Evo 500g SSD
- 1T Toshiba HDD

When gaming i get a weird grinding noise I'm going to try to post a video if not i'll post one from youtube.

I don't know where the noise is coming from It sounds like the pump, but it ONLY happens when gaming. In the video I loaded up "The Forest" and as soon as it starts, you can hear the noise, as soon as I close the game down, and I mean right when I hit exit it stops.

I've run prime95, Furmark, and stressed both the gpu and cpu but it did not happen at all when running those programs.

Now a days PCs are built for silent. When the PC doesn't do much work it won't dissipate heat much, it'll keep the fan speed and the pump speed to the lowest to save power and also the noise. But when you do a stressful work like gaming it increases the Fan speed and pump speed to help dissipating the heat generated while you are stressing the components. This is purely normal behavior and if you want to get rid of that noise, you can adjust the fan curve little lower but beware of putting it too low since it might get your components to its thermal limit and throttle down the performance.

It's not background noise to the game as i have it running through headphones with the game muted.

heres a link to the video, Youtube made my phone cut it short, so it's only 30 seconds but you can hear the ticking noise.
- im not sure what the pump speed is running at as im new to corsair link i'll tell you the 3 fans i have listed.
- take in mind my pump is powered by the psu with a cpu fan header on the motherboard.
1. MSI Motherboard AUX Fan IN2 - 1460
2. MSI Motherboard Sys Fan - 552
3. MSI Motherboard AUX Fan Fan - 2272

I have no clue which is which, but by sys fan i can tell you that is one of the fans on the radiator it seems, as thats where I have the fan plugged into, - i read earlier on another forum that someone had the same problem but fixed it by moving the fans to the motherboard, but that has not worked for me.

Note as I said this only happens as soon as the game is loaded up, AS SOON as i hit Exit, and i mean immediately as i press the button the noise ends.

I had a custom water loop on another build that did not have this problem at all, and the pump + fans were all powered by the psu to max speed.

Notice at the end of the video link, when you hear my mouse click, the noise vanishes and all you hear are the fans.

How does that sound okay to you 😱 do you not hear the loud ticking?
I don't find that to be normal.

I stated all my speeds in the previous reply.

Nothing is working, I've put in a new graphics card, the sound is still there.
I've unplugged fans, sound still is there.
Ran prime95, furmark the sound does not show up.

As soon as i enter any game the buzzing pops up.
This is annoying.
