Grinning

This game had me grinning ear-to-ear this weekend. On my web searches
I stumbled across this site:

http://mindhook.com/morrowindabodes

I figured I'd give one a try. They're just buildings, no unbalancing
features (I'm something of a purist about that sort of thing), and I
had already accumulated a bunch of stuff that I wanted to keep until I
could figure out what it was for, but not have to carry around.

As a newbie I'm pretty much in the Balmora area, so I downloaded and
installed this one...

I'm not sure why this tickled me so much, but walking in the first
time, looking around, and thinking "my house" was just one of the
coolest gaming experiences I've had in a long while. I spent at least
an hour arranging and rearranging my various loot, then ran into town
to buy a bunch of books for my shelves.

Nice touches in the house were notes from the 'builder', which I
tucked safely away in my desk. Attention to detail is important, and
the designer of this mod nailed it.

Itching to play right now, but I've got a tremendous workload for the
next two days. Gaaak.

I know exactly how you feel. 😀 Currently I'm playing on xbox so no mods
for me until I get my modchip. So I have to make do with houses I've
stolen from other people. Like Fargoths house in Seyda Neen (my fishing
cabin, a lovely place when properly redecorated), the Hlaalo Manor in
Balmora (Lots of space for display and fun) and lately I've become a bar
owner as I cleared the entire Council Club in Balmora too. the club
still needs a total rework but I'm on it :)

Some of the Morrowind Abodes houses were excellent. Most of the housing
mods I've seen are grotesque overkill, but theirs were moderate and
reasonable, mostly. I didn't like the Suran tower, though, and the Dagon
Fel hunting lodge was really good except for a lot of typos.

I've been using the Gnisis cave, which is quite simple and plain, but
suits my character.

Does anyone know what happened to the team? It looks like they stopped
updating right after they did the site.

I was under the impression that you could manage to get your own house even
in the XBox version, although I am unsure how to do that.

If you're aligned with one of the Great Houses you get a nice house
built just for you at one point when you've moved up enough in the
ranks. Lots of legwork and waiting, the locations are a bit out of the
way IMO (The Hlaalu site is pretty convenient to some areas, though) but
good to have anyway. Personally I'll stick to the caverns and Telvanni
towers I clean out....I like the ambiance. 😉
