[SOLVED] Gskill aegis ddr4 8gb x 2 3200mhz not stable at 3200mhz?

Here's my specs.
Gtx 980 ti
Asrock b450m pro4
Gskill aegis ddr4 8gb x 2 3200mhz
Ryzen 5 2600
Corsair CX550M

After figuring out why im getting errors of games crashing to desktop randomly with exception code 0xc0000005, i manage to narrow it down to maybe it's the ram. This problem only occurred about a week ago but i built this pc a few months ago. Previously my ram was on xmp profile 3200mhz but since last week, games have been crashing due to that error in the event viewer. So now, i set it on 3000mhz and so far it's stable. But i paid for 3200mhz ram not 3000mhz. Any ideas why it just started happening last week? Games that have been crashing on me are rdr2 and smite.

This error can really come from anything, software or hardware.

Did you change anything on your computer just before this started: new software, changes in WIN10 ?

Not really. I've pretty much google a lot of these and did everything there is tbh. Clean registry etc. The only change was switching from rx 580 to gtx 980 ti. I clean everything amd related with ddu.

Well, could be a hardware problem with the gtx 980 ti. If you still have the rx 580 maybe put it back, and see what happens

3200 is a overclock setting and not guaranteed to run without adjustments just leave it at 3000.

Anything over 2667 is a overclock on the motherboard and the CPU is 2933.

Zen+ CPUs won't go above 2933 (or 3000) reliably, at all. The 3000 series can be stable, but not the 2000 series. You're capped at 3000mhz.

Thanks for the replies. I upped the voltage to 1.4v instead of 1.35v. im running memtest86 now as we speak. Previously i only used windows memory test that took only a few minutes. Im hoping memtest86 would yield better results.

Forget X.M.P you must manually enter in the RAM timings for each channel, so get the specs of your RAM and put in those latency numbers then set to 3200Mhz and you should be fine. Good Luck 😏

I wanted to but when i use thaiphoon burner to check, i couldnt get the die type because it just shows die 1

Apparently upping the voltage to 1.4v seems to be stable for now. I played rdr2 for 2 hours with no crashes whereas i crashed in the first 30 minutes before

That is freakin great news my friend. Ya when you up the voltage it can handle tighter timings and a higher Mhz. It is a same soo many people have this same problem as you, you would think we have advanced from DDR3.. sighs 😏
