Hi,

I recently bought another set of G skill trident z neo 32gb 3200mhz (16gbx2) the thing that i found out is that it isnt going more than 2400mhz (on default it was 2133mhz) i tried turning on xmp but that is also not working. i also read that manual overclocking could help but i dont know nothing about overclocking ram.
I already tried updating bios to the latest version but that didnt work too. does someone know if i can get the 3200mhz on my ram or am i stuck at 2400mhz?

Here are my pc specs:

GPU: MSI RTX 3080 SUPRIM X
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X
RAM: 64GB G.SKILL Trident Z Neo 3200mhz (16gbx4)
MOBO: MSI MPG X570 GAMING PLUS

You apparently have two different 32gb ram kits.
Ram is sold in kits for a reason.
A motherboard must manage all the ram using the same specs of voltage, cas and speed.
The internal workings are designed for the capacity of the kit.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards, particularly ryzen, can be very sensitive to this.
This is more difficult when more sticks are involved.
Ram must be matched for proper operation.

To try to fix the issue, go into the bios and specify the settings yourself.
In the process, increase the voltage above the 1.35v that the sticks are rated at.
1.4v or higher may be necessary.

When done,
Run memtest86 or memtest86+
They boot from a usb stick and do not use windows.
You can download them here:
If you can run a full pass with NO errors, your ram should be ok.

Running several more passes will sometimes uncover an issue, but it takes more time.
Probably not worth it unless you really suspect a ram issue.
