Need some help here So confused about g sync ok so i have a Asus rog swift pg279q and g-sync doesn't work at all...In my nvidia control panel settings i have setup g-sync enabled for full and windowed mode then for monitor technology i have it set to g-Sync and have vertical sync set to OFF...Because we are using G-sync Not Vertical Sync and in my game settings i have vertical sync Off my card specs are Asus OC GTX 1080ti and intel i7 7700k....im seeing screen tearing like crazy and the g-sync Light lit on my Monitor is red so that means G-sync should be working but it isn't now when i set vertical sync to ON in Nvidia control panel the tearing goes away

Solution
Is your monitor operating in 165/144Hz mode, or at some lower refresh rate like 60Hz? G-Sync only works for frame rates below your refresh rate, so if they exceed the refresh rate, it will switch to either v-sync or no sync depending on your settings. So make sure the screen is in a high refresh rate mode, and if your game allows you to cap your frame rate to just below your refresh rate, you might want to try that to avoid encountering tearing or the display lag associated with v-sync.

If you want G-sync to always be enabled you need to turn V-sync ON. V-Sync OFF will let it draw as many frames as possible above the refresh rate of the monitor. Not all titles work in all modes either, sometimes you need to run in windowed mode or full screen windowed mode for G-sync to work properly. (Usually obvious, you get like 40-50 FPS)

G-Sync can't work if your FPS is higher than your refresh rate (G-Sync works by altering the monitor's refresh rate to match your frame rate, which it simply can't do if you're operating outside of its range). So if you go over 144 FPS G-Sync will just stop working, you'll have to either limit your frame rate to 144 or enable V-Sync.

In a situation like this G-Sync is completely pointless, it's literally doing nothing. At such high frame rates V-Sync is the champion.
