I bought a LG 48" C2 to replace my old monitor but am having an issue with GSync... and whether or not its working properly. When playing some games I now notice some screen tearing which tells me GSync isn't working properly. I do have a GTX1080 and I have read that the card isn't compatible with GSync over HDMI? Can anyone help verify this or tell me if there is a workaround or doing it all wrong in the first place? I did check the TV settings and it says GSync is enabled on the TV.. but it doesn't seem like it's the case.

Thanks!

LG C series (i have C1) has Hdmi 2.1 and is Gsync compatible but requires a graphics card that also has Hdmi 2.1 which starts with 30 series.

For now try vsync (or fast sync) and limit fps (using fps limiter in NvidiaCP) 1 frame below refresh rate, should help with input lag vsync introduces.

Necro Posting to hopefully help. I am thinking now that this is an LG issue and not Nvidia.

Try having a G-Sync monitor connected and powered on. My C1 would only get a G-Sync Signal with the monitor on, alternatively I found putting the monitor to sleep rather than full power-down also works.
Hope this helps your situation.

You can also try manually adding the driver ini (Manage Devices, Manual Driver, Have disk, etc..)

Why would you use Gsync with a oled? They dont have the refresh issue of an Lcd panel. I think the issue the op is experiencing has to do with trying to fix an issue that doesn't exist. The tearing is probably from Dlss not the screen refresh. Turn off both gsync and dlss.

C2 owner here whos been down this exact road before:

Enabling Gsync (or Freesync) on the C2 just tells the downstream GPU that it can accept a VRR signal; the handshake needs to pass on both ends to get everything working correctly.

The VRR implementation on the C2 is technically HDMI Forum VRR, which was implemented as part of HDMI 2.1. This would imply that a 3000 series GPU would be the earliest the C2 can work with Gsync. However, NVIDIA worked with LG to backport VRR support to its 2000 series GPUs specifically for LG, so any 2000 series or later GPU should work (though a 3000 series GPU is recommended).

The C2 also supports Freesync Premium Pro, so that's also an option.

Also, lesson I learned the hard way: There was a setting in Windows 10 I had to enable to actually get everything to work. I forget what it is (on a Windows 11 PC now), but that stumped me for quite a while.

Finally, the NVIDIA Gsync demo is still the best tool to confirm if Gsync is actually working or not; if it refuses to go into Gsync mode, then you know there's an issue somewhere.

Yes they do. While pixel state transitions are essentially instant, they still have the underlying issue where the GPU framebuffer can still be updated while an individual frame is being drawn by the display.

Besides, using Gsync (or any VRR tech) also reduces overall latency since you get the next frame as soon as its rendered, rather then potentially waiting and missing a refresh window.
