Question GT 1030 & GTX 1050 Ti not posting in ThinkCentre M92p ?

Hi everyone,

I have Windows 10 Pro installed on a Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p SFF PC.

CPU: i7-3770.
SSD: ADATA SU635 240GB
16GB DDR3L TimeTec 1600MHz RAM

PC boots into Windows with no card installed. When trying GT 1030 & GTX 1050 Ti (low profile) Lenovo splash screen pops up and I am able to access BIOS.

If I try to let Windows boot, I am left with a blinking line. If I try to boot to a Windows 10 .iso USB, nothing happens.

Note that I previously was able to install an RX 550 low profile in an M92p with success. Also note I have a few M92p's and so far two units have the same problem. One unit has i5-3470 for a CPU.

From what I can tell, system drivers are up to date. BIOS version is 9SKT99AUS 2017-06-30. When I try to update to the newest BIOS revision via command prompt, I am met with Child process failed. Return code: 24. "failed to restart BMC."

Any input is appreciated.

have you tested the gpu's on another pc? Just to be sure they are working and not dead.

a 1050ti can have issues with older systems, but a GT 1030 would work even with lga 775 motherboards.. it should have a fair chance of working on your pc.

Yep, the GT 1030 I use off and on for testing as needed on a workbench. The GTX 1050 Ti I have only tried in this M92p. Still, if it's not working with the GT 1030, I suspect there is something I am missing. Or, I just happen to have two faulty M92p's. Thanks for the suggestion.

oh, and what brand 1050 ti do you have? With 1050 ti it's a gamble. Got lucky that the 1050 ti brand I purchased was MSI, it works with my backup pc that has an i7-2600k. Has been working fine more than 3 years now. You can check my sig for specs. But have also seen a few threads here on the forums, and on reddit having problems installing 1050ti on older mobos... I guess it depends on the brand and a few other factors.

EVGA GT 1030. Zotac GTX 1050Ti Low Profile. I've had luck with Zotac, MSI, Gigabyte in different ThinkCentre PC's. Note that a Saplos RX 550 low profile card worked in another M92p.

6th gen Intel. i5-6500 or i7-6700 most commonly. I ended up getting the 1050Ti to work in a fourth M92p. Just luck I guess, Used lot of 20 units, I suppose some are not functioning correctly, or there is something I am missing.

that's fortunate. 1050ti can be still used for some mainstream games, 720p-1080p. Which isn't bad.
