So I wasn't paying attention and bought the gt 1030. But I have a VGA monitor. I have heard stories that you can't use a dvi-d to vga or something like that adapter on the 1030. Is that correct? and if not, do any of you know a good adapter to vga?

Or should i use HDMI to vga?

Solution
Correct. You need a "Active" DVI or HDMI to VGA, because the 1000 series doesnt output analogue signal (VGA). An Active adapter converts the digital signal to Analogue.

Oh my god, I just bought one before seeing this... I have one from maxxer, a hdmi to vga adapter cable. But there's no ''active'' in the name.. will it work or should i just try it?

It won't hurt to try it but if it doesn't work you will need a active one.
