Having just bought a GT 240 for a SFF, I can say if I had it to do again, I would go with the 9800 green edition. It's much faster and the cost is about the same.
Which would account for one being a 65nm GPU and the other being a 40nm GPU and one having 96 cores whilst the other only has 64 but other than that they are exactly the same other than those rather major differences.

Only if you ignore the different core speed, memory clocks, type and bus as well as level of directx support.
To be fair though they both ARE graphics cards AND made by Nvidia so it's an understandable mistake.
