I am planning to get a GT 710 GPU for my old / antique / ancient PC.
Will old games (5 - 8 years old games, but mainly NBA2K13) work with my set-up?

Specs:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo e6400
RAM: 4 GB
OS: Windows 7
Video Card: Planning to get GT 710
PSU: 250w

Or is there a better GPU for the price range of GT 710 that is compatible with my set-up?

I would say yes definitely, although depending on the resolution. I bought a bunch of these for my kids' PCs (which are the same spec as yours) and they work great. We play all the source engine games (HL2, Left4Dead, Portal 2) and they run great. That card will also run things like Far Cry or Crysis (the latter to a degree). Also Unreal Engine games work great as well. However they are running at 1280x1024 or 1600x1050.

Looking at the system requirements for NBA2K16, it should run fine.

We did get some video driver crashes to desktop however, but they seem to have largely gone away now (not sure why). I thought it might be the power supply, but those cards only use something like 15-30 watts not sure if that was the problem or...

I would definitely recommend this card - it's the perfect card for upgrading old machines to play old games 🙂

Most people would recommend spending a bit more for something better, but if cost is an issue (like it was for me - I needed 3 of them!) and you don't plan on playing the latest and greatest at 4K, then there is no better bargain.
