Hi,
i have a question witch it really MADE ME ANGRY :fou:
is it true that GT 840m can't be overclocked ?
if it can be, please tell me how !
i have tried lot of programs and nvidia overclock services, but there is no result appears.
the GPU stick on 1129 MHz while playing any game.
HELP PLEASE 🙁

Solution
No it can't be overclocked for 2 major reasons:
1. This is a laptop GPU, it is not meant for overclocking.
2. Because again, this is a laptop: you have stupidly low thermal headroom, so you shouldn't even think about overclocking this GPU. Though, even if you do have enough thermal headroom, the manufacturers on laptop GPUs almost always disable(except for the 900s series) overclocking because of warranties: imagine if tons of people burnt the CPU and GPU because of overclocking, they would have to refund them.

So it's a no-go for the gt 840m.

Solution
I would propose it is overclockable but it should satisfy suh conditions:

1. Monitor cpu and gpu temperature via gpuz and make sure they are not overheating (like going over 90c or 190f)

2. Have latest graphics drivers, both Intel and GeForce as they work in tandem.

3. Have msi afterburner and turn on unofficial overclocking (Google this for info)

In general nvidia has locked core overclock headroom to 135mhz while for memory it could be a little more. My recommendation is to overclock the core to its maximum and start memory by 10% (ie 100 mhz if your memory is 1000 in stock freq), then put on by 5 or 10 until it's unstable. Run a game for an hour or half and monitor temperature closely. In best case scenario u could get 10-15% more performance than stock.

I will not be responsible for any damages caused by oc (though it is rare)
