GT740 with three monitors

I've just built a new PC with a GT740 (2GB DDR5 version) which I know can support 3 monitors.

Why then do I keep reading people talking about a 3 monitor set up needing at least one display port connection?? Will a mix of DVI, D-Sub and HDMI not work? My GT740 doesn't have a display port connection (it has 2x DVI, 1x D-Sub and 1x HDMI).

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Just a note, I believe those cards only support 1 analogue (VGA/D-Sub) monitor. So you can't use the D-Sub & DVI-I (connected to a second VGA monitor) at the same time. As long as two of your monitors accept digital signals (HDMI or DVI), you should be fine.

Don't quote me on that, I'm not 100% sure, but just wanted to flag it in case that was your plan.
Older AMD cards (like the 280, 280X, etc) only support two VGA/DVI/HDMI monitors before requiring any additional displays to be DP or use an active adapter.

That is NOT the case with Nvidia and never has been. That card does support 3 displays, so it should work without issues.
