GTA 4 Draw Distance and Detail Distance doing nothing?

Hello everyone,

I run on a somewhat older PC Specs system. But I love playing GTA 4 because of the mods it has to offer.

My Specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom ii x4 965 Black Edition
GPU: GTX 285
RAM: 4 GB
HDD: 500 GB
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit

So my issue is, whenever I turn up the graphics detail distance to 100 and draw distance to 100 it doesn't do anything. Literally a couple yards away from something in-game looks so blurry and stupid. When I look very far in the distance it literally looks like blobs for cars and buildings look like squares and rectangles. I want this fixed, I have all my settings on high and I seem to always be getting up to around 60 FPS and never below 30 without any mods or anything. Please help.

Well, since GTA IV was a horribly optimized game, some settings do not work at all. As you said, I experienced this myself once, when I got to my friend's house(Tommy), back in 2010. He was asking me to help him optimize the game, and discovered that even though we were maxing out the slider, the draw distance wouldn't increase.

Just out of curiosity, Why are you playing gta 4 when gta 5 is already out there for PCs? 😛

As LightSwordM said GTA 4 was a really crappy port back then which was...well, never fixed.

I am playing GTA 4 for the LCPDFR Mod, (I love it!)

But I really never use to have this issue and I see people on youtube who get 60 FPS while recording with Fraps and having their detail distance and view distance at high.

I guess you guys are all right that there is really now way to improve this, but I feel that I am the only one with this distance graphical issue... I can't find it anywhere online?
