Hi All ,

I have bought Asus gtx 650 a few days ago , and have installed GTA 4 On my Computer.
Unfortunately GTA 4 Lags even on low settings with 800x600 Screen resolution

My Computer Spec Below

Motherboard : Intel DG41RQ
CPU : Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHZ (E7400)
GFX Card : ASUS GTX 650 Direct CU
Memory : 4GB Ram
Power Supply : VIP 500 Gold
Os : Windows 7 X32
my specs are low and hence i am using a 14" Crt monitor. hence i was expecting that these specs should suffice for any games i may wish to play.
kindly tell me if shall i be facing lag with Gta 4 ??

Awaiting your response at the earliest..

Thanks & Regards
Sid

i have updated drivers from geforce site 2 days ago . and then reinstalled the game . but still the same issue persists . I am gonna format my windows today to windows 8 64 Bit , will update you with the status !!

Good, I hope u will be ok with your new OS.

so you all mean to say , that my config is not bad , as i am very concerned as if battlefield and crysis would run ok or not

i dont expect ultra settings with all the games but adequate enuff to enjoy gaming

btw , i tried formatting my system to windows 8 and it gives an error saying some file is corrupted. i am now opting for win 7 64 bit , which i would get by a friend today evening . hoping it would be better for my config and giving me more space for big games .

GTA IV was made in the day where everyone had an E6600 OCd to 3.2GHz, the minimum was a 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo but his E7400 is more than plenty for the job and still, GTA IV will barely ever work fluently even on the best of the best hardware....

Hello everyone , thanks for your inputs , I have left that game aside , and I think I won't be opting it in futures too . But the reason I bought the gfx was for battlefield 3 , and it won't run too ,
When I double click the game , nothing happens the game shows that it's running properly in processes but it won't start . The window does not show up at all Z

Rebuild the game database, also don't think about maxing it out since your CPU is not very good, to have a better experience, you could get an older Core 2 Quad (such as this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Core-2-Extreme-QX6700-2-66-GHz-Quad-Core-SL9UL-Processor-/140952971870?pt=CPUs&hash=item20d173aa5e) for a decent gaming experience until you have saved up for an FX6300/83XX or Intel Core i5 3470/3570K/4670K with new RAM, mobo, etc.

Hi ,

I am a bit confused with database rebuilding , please help on what is it and how is it to be done.
i googled it but it shows for ps3 and ps2 , nothing for pc .

Please help

And sorry for the trouble

uh, no, everyone knows you need a fast quad core cpu to get good fps in this game.

I too had a e6600 ocd to over 3ghz, and it never ran the game totally smothly till i got a q6600 and oc'd it. It was a poorly optimized port that took a lot of cpu power to run smooth for no good reason. look at that bench, a 4ghz dual core e8500 cant keep up with a 3ghz quad core cpu. If you really want to run the game smoothly, look at ebay for a cheap core 2 quad cpu.

Ehh, the E7400 is not anywhere near ideal for the game and the GTX 650 is being choked by it, at least go for the QX6700, for now and play smoothely at medium until you can upgrade you mobo, ram, processor, etc.

it used to be pretty playable for me with a 1gb 6850 and q6600 at 3.5ghz, just dont max out the detail settings. i mean, it was just playable on my old core 2 duo 6600 at 3.2ghz, but barely.

just for the hell of it i installed the game again to see how it would run on my current system, it runs well, but considering my specs not well enough really. with all detail seetings up 4xmsaa it drops to the 40's (fps) sometimes, most of the time sits at 56fps (a strange 56fps cap is in place for some reason). without AA there wasnt a change in fps at all, cpu utilization is 50% and gpu utilization is about 80%. So its fair enough to clal it pretty damn unoptimized yeah.

It was BAAADLY unoptomized, I bet they liteally took the Xbox 360's (Lead Platform) code and wrote x86-64 all over it and hoped it would work 😛

It's been two years
Nice to hear that.
