GTA 5 Crashing on Start Up

I have GTA 5 installed on steam and I've been playing it fine for over a week now with no problems. However last night when I went to play; the game was loading the story mode when it crashed and gave me a message along the lines of 'Failed to initialize. Please reboot or re-install.'

So I tried rebooting the game, steam, my computer and everything else but it continues to crash every time when loading the story mode. So I was forced to re-install the game (which at 60 gig wasn't fun). Again the same problem keeps happening every time I tried to load up story mode.

I have no idea where this came from as like I said I've been playing it fine for hours and hours now.

My specs are:

GPU - Radeon R9 290
CPU - i5 4690K
Memory - 8gb

Hey 1david10 if you have any mods installed remove them Rockstar just announced that Modding is not allowed on GTA 5. I had the same issue the game worked fine till I added K-putt sweet fx to clean the graphics up which with the mod it worked fine until Rockstars announcement then my game stopped working I have the none steam version but believe this applys to all versions please spread this info hope this helps
