GTA 5 problem, help!

Im playing GTA 5 on my new pc, and it is using 80% of my cpu on the game. And my graphicscard is not struggeling at all, the fans are not ever turning on, which means they dont need to.

Specs:
8gb ram
i5 4460
gtx 960

What could be the problem?? how do i get it to use my graphicscards power instead of cpu's?

You cant divert the power of one to the other, try lowering grass quality and turn MSAA off, that should help to make the game take up less resources. Also ambient occlusion is pretty useless too, just eats up resources.

EDIT: if you're playing on all highest settings then this is to be expected.

I have a 3770k and GTA is EXTREMELY intensive in the CPU, unlike 90% of other games.

1. Download OCCT and make sure your CPU isnt overheating (needs to be below 95c), I had an issue with my CPU cooler, essential it was broken causing it not to fit snug on the CPU and dissipating the heat away from the CPU. OCCT help me identify there was a heat issue with the CPU.

1a. MORE COMMONLY check you CPU cooler isnt full of dust, this is very common!

2. Download Nvidia Geforce Experience to configure GTAs graphics setting for you GPU (very usful if you dont fully understand what impact each setting has on your system

3. Update you drivers, particularly your graphics card

4. It could be a bug with GTA.

your cpu has 4 cores and the game requires that on recommended settings , so i think it´s normal ( i have an amd a8 6600k , and he goes to 90+ on max usage , i play on medium/high) so you are okay and you have a good pc to run very well GTA V , so don´t worry about that , simply make sure that you have the nvidia latest driver for your gpu.

The problem is most probably in your OS if running Win7 try installing Win8.1, and if you don't want to do that you could check on background processes and turn them off, if even that is not the case turn down shadows, textures, and far loading thing down a bit, and be sure that you are running the latest patch, also try turning any kind of AA to of and finally turn v-sync off if running its really bugged out Hope this helped !!!

he can put on "auto" and connect the video cable to dedicated gpu

The CPU usage is normal, but the graphics card not doing anything definitely sounds like you may have accidentally set GTA V to use the integrated graphics as there's no way a GTX 960 wouldn't even get hot enough to spin the fans in GTA V.

We got same cpu,gpu, and i have gta v too. I have my 960 on 1450mhz with stock voltage so my gta v settings are like tweaked ultra no msaa. I also get vey high cpu usage its normal. Try to tun v-sync on. Also if you look at the requirements the recomended is gtx 660 but the game needs titan x at 1080p to max it out at 60fps. But it also has recomended i5. So imagine how good i7 you need to play at ultra/very high

This comment about the requirements of GTA V is simply untrue. I'm getting 45FPS average in the benchmark with everything except textures and AA cranked to max (grass is on low because it crashes my game at everything else, no idea why). You know what I'm running? An overclocked R9 270X (as much as you can overclock it anyways, no voltage control yay) and an i5 760.

GTX 960 > R9 270X so there's no way for a GTX 960 to get lesser FPS.

Also many people nowdays are like "I play this on ultra bruh 1080p 60fps"

But it is with no advanced graphics no MSAA/AA and the settings tweaked accordingly with their VRAM...

Out of curiosity is this in the GForce Experience control panel or somewhere in the game? I'm running GTA V on an i5 6600K/GTX 1070/16 GB RAM setup and have everything maxed and while the game looks outstanding every once in a while I notice a drop in FPS. It's usually not too bad and there's no stuttering but it is noticeable. I tried disabling Vsync just to see what would happen but I had really bad screen tearing so I put it back on. Usually I just set a games graphics using the in game options but now that I have a more powerful rig I think maybe using GFE would be better but I'm not that familiar with it.

It means that your graphics card is not being used as the fans should ALWAYS be on. It is using your CPU instead. The graphics card is either faulty is badly installed into the slot.
