Hey guys, I've just recently started having problems playing Grand Theft Auto V. I thought maybe my graphics card can't handle GTA. But this just recently started happening, I used to play GTA with mixed high/very high settings with just a GTX 760 with 2gb of Vram; and I was getting great fps. By "great fps" I mean like 50-60 fps. Now I'm stuttering all over the place and I can barely move. I'm stuttering all around whenever the game needs to load any part of the map. (Driving mostly) While I'm in my GTA Online apartment I don't suffer any stutter of FPS drops.

I also tried playing BF4 today and I had no issues playing with all ultra settings turned up.

BTW, I've done the most obvious things to try to fix this issue already, such as:
-Installed the lastest gpu drivers
-Clean up my hard drive
-Check for viruses/malware

Solution
Download MSI Afterburner and monitor your GPU clock speed while playing games, if it is dropping frequently and at 90-100% load then your GPU is thermal throttling.

Are yu saying a GPU should not be at 90-100% load during gaming?

When a GPU is at 90 or above load it should Boost its clock speed provided it has a decent amount of thermal headroom. IF it is at that level of usage and DECREASING clock speed (It has no reason to, other than throttling, since the GPU is working hard) then Thermal throttling might be the problem .

Side not: A GPU CAN be less that 90% load when gaming, Just pair it with a crappy CPU 😛 (5350)

So is it bad that Witcher 3 my 980ti uses 95-99% usage almost the whole time?

No lol? if you have Vsync off then ofc it will reach 99% usage... thats perfectly normal, INFACT it should reach 99% usage... if not then something is bottlenecking your GPU.

Some games such as robocraft are EXTREMELY CPU intensive. My friend says that his CPU jumps up to 100% CPU usage (i5 3770k) but his GPU (GTX 760) stays at 70%. it varies from game to game.

I've downloaded MSI afterburner and after launching GTA I watched, the GPU usage was only at about 70%, while the CPU usage was between 75-99%. I'm going to guess my CPU is the bottleneck lol

Weird thing is that I used to play with no issues at all; I'm going to try and reinstall GTA 5 and see what happens
