Hello everyone.

I need help.

I have been hearing that GTA IV is very buggy and poorly optimized for PC.

So my question is, is GTA Episodes from liberty city coded better for PC? Will it run better than GTA IV out of the box?

My specs are as follows:

CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz OC'd to 2.80GHz.
RAM: 4GB DDR2 800MHz Dual Channel RAM
Mobo: XFX 780i Nforce 3-way SLI
GPU: XFX GTX 285 1GB GDDR3 (stock clock)
PSU: 650w Thermaltake toughpower
Case: Antec DF-10

The question is will i be able to run GTA EFLC. Because when i played BFBC2 maxed out i could notice it was a little bit laggy in some places. And considering that BFBC2 is not as demanding as GTA EFLC or IV leaves me wondering i will not be able to play it very well. I want to run it atleast at everything on high. NOT very high just high.

I will be playing on 1600x900 monitor.

Also just a side question, In the nvidia control panel it says multi display performance mode. Should i select single display performance mode since i only have 1 monitor or should i just leave it?

Thanks for your help guys.

Hi Wonder,

I have EFLC for PC. I have never owned the original GTAIV for PC, but if I am not mistaken, the two versions run on the same graphics engine and therefore utilize the same code to operate. Although certain title updates have brought minor performance gains, overall the engine hasn't changed much since initial release. I believe that GTA IV 1.0.7.0 and EFLC 1.1.2.0 are essentially the same game with the only differences lying in the front end interface and the mission scripting, plus a few vehicles, so the performance differences will be negligable, assuming there even are any. In my experience, EFLC runs pretty good on my GTX 465 and 2500k at max settings. It can pull 60 without too much trouble, unless I run it with IcEnhancer, in which case it drops by half right off the bat. Of course, I game at 1080p. I would expect that with your setup, you can expect to pull around 40 to 50 FPS on high, perhaps even very high, although your CPU looks to be the weakest link here. If you can, you should up the clock speed to 3Ghz if not more, otherwise EFLC will be more unstable and the FPS will vary more. Of course, you should take what I've said with a grain of salt as my setup is nothing like yours, so I could still be dead wrong. Hope this helps!

So if i overclocked to 3.2GHz it would run fine? Its just my GPU seems a bit week for this game

Your GPU is actually just fine. In fact, it is more powerful than my GTX 465, which considering how well my card runs EFLC, your's should be able to run it like it's nothing.

If you can manage a 3.2 Ghz clock speed, I say go for it! GTA is as CPU-bound as it is GPU-bound, and every extra bit of power helps. It'll work at 2.8Ghz, but an extra .4 Ghz will give it additional fluidity, not to mention headway for adding mods. But if you can, push it further. Anything past about 3.3 or 3.4 Ghz isn't really needed for GTA, but it gives you more headroom so that dropped frames or instances of lag are less noticeable.

efls is better optimized in that it was already patched to 1.4 on its release and was patched after. the bogt is the better performer again... due to it being released last so is most optimized. your system should have no issues running the game at max settings apart from draw distance. whitch will be at either half way or just above on efls.
