GTA iv runs very laggy on a good PC

Hello everyone,

I bought GTA IV about a week ago, and i installed it, and set everything on ultra, and i have max 25 fps with this PC:

AMD FX8120 ( 8 core processor. )
Asrock Extreme 3
Sapphire HD7850 2 GB GDDR5
8 GB Kingston HyperX ram.

I have the newest patch.

:lol: Check CPU usage, you'll see you're maxing out 4 cores. That means you either need to overclock, or lower settings. I doubt FX CPU can do GTA 4 on ultra..

This game is CPU bound and from what I understand, a bad console port. Without proper PC optimizations, it won't run well.

most games can't use more than 4 cores


the only people that should have a pc with more than 4 cores are people that run virual machines and other multithreaded programs



amd cpu's can max games out if you really overclock them, intel have them beat on stock performance in games though.




what you are trying to do is game with a workstation cpu that is not built for that task

Dude are you high? That isn't a workstation GPU.

it is designed for tasks that are normally done on a work station pc

this cpu is not very good at gaming.

all you have to do is click on toms cpu hierarchy to see that without overclocking even a core i3 is better at gaming

It is a gaming card. Not a workstation card. AMD has firepro series as workstation ones, while Radeon HD is gaming GPU series.

the FX-series is a disappointment, in the cpu spectrum, intel would be able to handle that game without much issue. heck my phenom 955 can overclock and perform better than that chip.
