GTA online ps3 TIMED OUT LOCATING SESSION

I have been spending weeks trying to fix this problem which started when we upgraded our internet to fiber optic. Basically what will happen is when I attempt to join gta online it just says alert timed out locating session, however many times i try it it just does this. the only way i have managed to get online is to go into a invite only session, if i want to join a job i have to either host one or join a random job from the phone menu. Weirdly however last night it did let me switch my character briefly and i managed to get into a server with 4 people on, yet this was only achieved by exiting a job via free mode. Unfortunately now i cant even switch back to my normal character which is extremely annoying. Im hoping that when my pc version of the game arrives and i transfer my progress i wont have this, but i would really like to play the game now aswell.

What i have tried so far:
Internet is fine i can connect and browse with ease and play online games on my pc aswell.
Checked parental controls no problem there
authenticated rockstar social account.
Unlinked and relinked social account.
thats it so far.
Also my ps3 works online on other games such as cod etc.

Maybe its just rockstars terrible service yet i have had this issue for almost a month now.

EDIT: I now no longer am able to get into invite only/solo sessions.

this is rot rockstar games problem the problem are psn servers try contacting sony customer support they might be able to shed light on you

Right as of now i have been able to get on a multiplayer server by a stroke of pure luck and have gone back on my normal character, havent been able to secure a constant connection to any servers with more than 1 person in but ill just make do while i wait for the pc version to come out

do not wait for the pc version . You have bought the ps3 and it is your right to play online. They cannot make any accuse when internet works on other games . I recommend to contact sony customer service don't GIVE UP

I am having the exact same problem! & I have contacted SONY, ROCKSTAR, AND MY ISP...no one has answers that work...I have tried all the things u mentioned too..I feel like they all sent me in circles...blaming one of the others. Hope there is an answer to this!

I have this exact same problem EVERY time I play. And once it does it the first time, it keeps doing it over and over EVERY time I try to reload online play. Sometimes I can fix it for a little while by quitting the game and restarting it. Sometimes I have to actually turn the whole PS3 system off and then power it back up. A few times I've had to power the PS3 system down and then reset it when I power it back up. You can do a system reset by powering it down and then holding the power button on the console down until you hear a second beep. It will prompt to reconfirm your HDMI and screen settings before startup. Again, all of these suggestions are only temporary fixes because "SESSION TIMED OUT" always ends up happening again at some point and I have to go through all of these solutions over and over again. This is a Rockstar server issue, as I have no problems on my EA Sports games.

I honestly think it has something to do with the fiber optics/modem. Someone told me about port forwarding....any ideas on that before I start to FCK with it? Lol
